As iron sharpens iron...

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When I was 15 I had an encounter with Jesus that changed my life entirely. I came from a pretty much unchurched background. A few years at the village Sunday school in my younger years, but nothing substantial since then. Then I met Jesus. This started the adventure that has been my life with him. One key feature of this has been living in community with his people. As a young Christian my appetite for learning about Jesus and hanging out with his people was huge.I had a youth group every Friday night but I also went to an "adult" home group.Home group was where I really grew through the support of my wonderful home group leaders Mick and Rachel, and all the other members of the group. I developed an appetite for God's word and a passion to search the scriptures for how to live this new life I'd found. As the proverb says: "as iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another".When I left for university in Canterbury I didn't just join a great church, I very quickly got involved in a great home group too.Over the years the names of these groups have changed - home group, cell group, small group - but the ethos has remained the same, to be a place where we gather together to encourage one another through the Bible and be more effective in our witness for Christ. At Hope Community Church we call this Community Group. We want this to be a place where we worship together, study the Bible together and look for ways to serve the wider community together in the areas we live. Our Community Group meets every Thursday from 8-9.30pm. We'd love you to join us there! If you want to know more, please drop us a line at welcome@hope-community.church.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
