2 months in...
[vc_row el_class="blog-body"][vc_column][vc_column_text]So it's been nearly two months since we made our exciting announcement that we're going to be planting a new church into the Canterbury area and I thought you may be wondering what we've been up to since then.Things kicked off with us getting our Facebook, Twitter and website live so we could stay in touch with everyone and help share our heart for the kind of church we feel God calling us to plant.I've had a couple of really encouraging catch-ups with Lyndall from Churches Together in Canterbury (who I've known since being at University with her) and Chris McBurney who heads up the UCCF work with students in the area. I've been involved in student work in one form or another since my Uni days and beyond (over 20 years!) and have a huge passion to see students getting a firm biblical foundation to build their lives upon, so it was exciting to chat about how Hope Community Church could be a part of that.It was great to hang out with these guys as well as other local church leaders to share our heart and receive wise and godly counsel/encouragement.As well as this more relaxed side of things we've also been putting some practical things in place so we're ready to go when God opens up doors and calls people to join us.A huge shout out goes to everyone who gave their time over two July weekends, working hard to tidy a space to use for some initial church prayer meetings - after three full car loads of tip runs and a plethora of pizzas, burgers and steak we now have a great clean and useable space. Thanks to everyone who helped, you know who you are!Hopefully we'll get these prayer meetings going soon - watch this space for more details! So that's been our last month and a bit, not to mention our jobs, family and everything else that life usually brings. It's been an exciting time with challenges along the way too, mainly in the area of learning to be patient when things aren't happening at the pace we'd like! Our biggest prayer is for Jesus to raise up like-hearted people to get stuck in so we can see Hope Community Church truly start to take shape and be a blessing to the community around us.Maybe you're one of them! If you've been following our journey so far and feel a stirring to get involved or maybe you've only just heard about our adventure and want to get stuck in please do let us know by sending us a message on Facebook, Twitter or through our website contact form. Finally if you want to get involved by praying for us you can contact us in the same ways and we'll let you know our needs as they come up.Thanks for all the support guys.Rob[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
